Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident
Motorcycle riders often engage in dangerous driving. If there is a vehicle in front of you, it may be difficult to stop in time. This can lead to a serious or even fatal accident.
Sadly, this was the case for a man who was riding his motorcycle in Manatee County. He was killed in a collision with another vehicle. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of June 1 on State Road 684.
The 22-year-old man from Bradenton man was driving east on State Road 684. He was speeding when he crashed into a car in front of him. The impact caused the rider to be
ejected from the motorcycle. He died at the accident scene. The crash is under investigation.
When Riders Are Ejected from Motorcycles
Unlike passenger vehicles, motorcycles are not equipped with seat belts, so in the event of a crash, the rider is likely to be ejected. Once a rider is ejected, they are likely to be seriously injured or even killed. Here are some situations in which a motorcycle rider can be ejected:
- Sudden stops or collisions. When a rider applies the brakes suddenly and forcefully, the bike can decelerate faster than the rider, causing them to be thrown forward. When a motorcycle hits another vehicle, object, or obstacle, the sudden impact can cause the rider to be thrown off the bike.
- High speeds. At high speeds, any sudden change in the bike’s trajectory, such as hitting a pothole, swerving, or losing control, can result in the rider being ejected due to the momentum.
- Road conditions. Sudden changes in road elevation can cause the bike to become unstable. Potholes, cracks, and other road hazards can cause the rider to lose control and be thrown from the bike.
- Loss of traction. Riding on wet, icy, or oily roads can cause the tires to lose grip, leading to skids or slides. Hitting loose gravel or other debris can cause the bike to lose traction and stability, ejecting the rider.
- Mechanical failures. A sudden tire blowout can cause loss of control and result in the rider being thrown off. If the brakes fail, the rider may be unable to stop the bike in time to avoid an obstacle, leading to an ejection.
- Improper riding techniques. Incorrect handling of the bike during turns can lead to loss of control. Performing stunts such as wheelies can increase the risk of the bike tipping over and ejecting the rider.
